A Successful Surgical Journey: Mr. Ayoob Shallal Farhan

At Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, we recently had the privilege of treating Mr. Ayoob Shallal Farhan, a 50-year-old gentleman from Iraq, who came to us with severe neck and arm pain that was affecting his daily life.

The Struggle Before Surgery

Mr. Ayoob had been suffering from acute axial neck pain, which gradually worsened over time. The pain radiated to his left upper limb, accompanied by numbness and tingling sensations. These symptoms made it increasingly difficult for him to carry out routine activities, leaving him distressed and in constant discomfort.

Diagnosis

After a thorough clinical evaluation by Dr. Hitesh Garg, Head of Spine Surgery at Artemis Hospital, Mr. Ayoob was advised to undergo radiological scans. The results revealed a C5-C6 disc prolapse, a common cervical spine condition where the disc presses on the spinal nerves, leading to pain and neurological symptoms.

The Surgical Solution

Considering the severity of his condition, Dr. Garg recommended a surgical intervention in the form of Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) at C5-C6. This minimally invasive spine surgery involves removing the herniated disc to relieve nerve compression and stabilizing the spine with fusion.

A Successful Outcome

The surgery was performed successfully, and the results were remarkable. Mr. Ayoob experienced immediate relief from the radiating pain in his arm, along with significant improvement in numbness and tingling. Within days, he was able to move around comfortably, regaining confidence in his recovery.

A Happy Journey Back Home

After a week-long stay in India filled with warmth, care, and healing, Mr. Ayoob is now returning to Iraq pain-free and with a smile. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hitesh Garg and the entire Artemis team for giving him not only relief from pain but also wonderful memories of his medical journey in India.
