A journey to healing – overcoming Spinal Metastasis

A vibrant 45-year-old found her life increasingly restricted by relentless neck pain accompanied by radiating discomfort and weakness extending down both arms.

This persistent upper limb radiculopathy significantly hampered her daily activities, prompting her to seek expert medical attention from Dr. Hitesh Garg at Artemis Hospital.

Following a thorough examination and advanced imaging, the diagnosis revealed a serious underlying issue: a pathological fracture with spinal metastasis identified at the C7 and D3 vertebral levels. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Dr. Garg meticulously counseled her family, outlining the necessity for a complex surgical intervention.

The procedure involved a C4 to D6 cervical-dorsal posterior fixation and stabilization, coupled with a C7 to D1 decompression surgery. This intricate surgery aimed to stabilize the spinal column, alleviate the pressure on the neural structures, and address the pathological fracture caused by the metastatic lesion. Postoperatively, she demonstrated remarkable recovery.

The debilitating pain subsided, and the strength in her upper limbs gradually returned, allowing her to resume her normal life with renewed independence. Before her departure back to her country,  she expressed her profound appreciation to Dr. Hitesh Garg and the entire team at Artemis Hospital for their expertise and compassionate care, which had effectively restored her quality of life.
