Problem?
Mr. Mohanad Adnan Mohamed, a resident of Baghdad, Iraq, had been battling persistent neck pain radiating to his right upper limb. Now he has started experiencing numbness and weakness in the arm also. The discomfort was significantly affecting his daily life, limiting his mobility and causing considerable distress. Seeking advanced medical care, Mr. Mohamed turned to Dr. Hitesh Garg at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon.
Test and Diagnosis
Upon a thorough examination, including advanced imaging studies, Dr. Garg diagnosed Mohanad with a C4-C5 disc prolapse which has migrated behind the C5 vertebral body making this a very challenging situation. This condition was causing compression of the spinal cord and nerve roots, leading to the pain and weakness
Surgery Day
Given the severity of his symptoms and the potential for further neurological damage, Dr. Garg recommended an anterior cervical decompression and corpectomy of C5 with fixation at C4-C6. This minimally invasive surgical procedure involves removing the damaged disc, decompressing the spinal cord, and fusing the affected vertebrae to stabilize the spine.
Post Surgery
The surgery was a success. Mohanad experienced significant relief from his neck pain and arm symptoms. He was discharged within 48 hours and his weakness has already recovered. Pain has disappeared completely After a 20-day stay in India, Mohanad is finally returning to Iraq with a new life free of pain and disability. Before his departure, Mr. Mohamed expressed his gratitude to Dr. Garg and the entire team at Artemis Hospital for their exceptional care and expertise.
